10 WAYS TO FIGHT DEPRESSION

1----One thing you must know is, the mind is a place where depression grows to eventually become a menace to the whole of your system.
So try as much as possible to engage your mind with positive activities, positive thoughts, a positive way of life and so on, just make sure your mind is not free for a depressing thought to creep in, why? cause a positive thought or activity takes you far away from whatever issues or problems facing you.

2------ You must try as much as possible to avoid anxiety and difficult issues , problems , peoples views or opinions must not be allowed to take over your mind easily, because if it does , you become too anxious which predisposes you to been depressed.

3----- When bored or moody, never try to find solace in drinks, sex, food or drugs, they only compound issues.

4------ Boredom, loneliness, idleness, low self esteem and lack of self confidence are factors that exposes an individual to depression, so to avoid it, engage in pro-active activities like "SPORTS".

5------- Have at least 2-3 mind lifting friends , keep companies that add value to your life, try to find someone you trust and respect to talk to, because depression thrives in silence, communication exposes it.

6------- Never be caught idle, because it makes the mind go astray in search of crazy and depressing thoughts .
Engage your mind with activities that keeps it focused, activities like "READING OR TAKING A WALK".

7------ A low self esteem dampens the mind, which invites depression, so to conquer depression, your self esteem must burn high like steam.

8------ If you are not confident with your self then everything people say especially the negative ones gets to you and bring the spirit down , which automatically exposes you to depression.
Build a genuine self confidence from inside you, remind yourself everyday that you are " BEAUTIFUL, BRILLIANT, INTELLIGENT AND HARDWORKING."

9------ Avoid getting ANGRY easily, don't be jealous, never house any hatred towards anyone live with a free mind, that could be all the liberation you need from depression.

10------ Don't blame yourself for whatever have happened or happening to you, this is the only way to clear your mind from all guilt and self condemnation.

------ FINALLY, TRY NOT TO WAKE UP ON THE WRONG SIDE OF YOUR BED AND IF YOU WORK PLEASE FIND TIME TO RELAX YOUR NERVES, GO OUT ON A VACATION, EITHER WITH YOUR FAMILY OR ALONE BUT JUT DO SOMETHING OUT SIDE WORK! WORK!

16 SIGNS A PERSON MIGHT HAVE HIV

1)Fever
One of the first signs of ARS can be a mild fever, up to about 102 degrees F. The fever, if it occurs at all, is often accompanied by other usually mild symptoms, such as fatigue, swollen lymph glands, and a sore throat. “At this point the virus is moving into the blood stream and starting to replicate in large.

2)Fatigue
The inflammatory response generated by your besieged immune system also can cause you to feel tired and lethargic. Fatigue can be both an early and later sign of HIV.

3)Achy muscles, joint pain, swollen lymph nodes.

4)Sore throat and headache.

5)Skin rash
Skin rashes can occur early or late in the course of HIV/AIDS.

6)Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea.

7)Weight loss
Once called “AIDS wasting,” weight loss is a sign of more advanced illness and could be due in part to  severe diarrhea.

8)Dry cough.

9)Pneumonia.

10)Night sweats.

11)Nail changes:
Another sign of late HIV infection are nail changes, such as clubbing (thickening and curving of the nails), splitting of the nails, or discoloration (black or brown lines going either vertically or horizontally). Often this is due to a fungal infection, such as candida.

12)Yeast infections
Another fungal infection that’s common in later stages is thrush, a mouth infection caused by Candida, a type of yeast.

13)Confusion or difficulty concentrating
Cognitive problems could be a sign of HIV-related dementia, which usually occurs late in the course of the
disease. In addition to confusion and difficulty concentrating, AIDS- related dementia might also involve  memory problems and behavioral issues such as anger or irritability.

14)Cold sores or private part herpes
Cold sores (oral herpes) and private part herpes can be a sign of both ARS and late-stage HIV infection.
And having herpes can also be a risk factor for contracting HIV. This is because private part herpes can  cause ulcers that make it easier for HIV to enter the body during s*x. And people who have HIV tend to have more severe herpes outbreaks more often because HIV weakens the immune system.

15)Tingling and weakness
Late HIV can also cause numbness and tingling in the hands and feet. This is called peripheral neuropathy, which also occurs in people with uncontrolled diabetes.

16)Menstrual irregularities.
Please, go and check your status. Protect yourself in every way you can against this dreadful scourge.

VIDEO: BUTT IMPLANTS GONE WRONG

Booty Flop! Woman Shows Results Of Botched Butt-Enhancement Procedure

when butt implants go wrong
An unidentified woman is shown on a video uploaded to WorldStarHipHop demonstrating how she can flip her butt implants by moving them around with her hands, the New York Daily News reports.
When she rotates the implant from the side that is suppose to sit flat on her bones, it looks like the top of a hand drum is protruding from inside of her buttocks. The woman wrote a word of caution along side the written description of the video:
“This is the dangers of butt implants. Ladies do not ever do silicone butt injections they are toxic to your body. Butt implants are not any better, too many risk, infection, displacement of the implant and they feel like rocks not to mention look very unnatural. Love the skin your in
Here is what happens when implants go bad. This is my personal experience I almost died from this surgery and am having them removed this thursday”
The Daily News spoke to Dr. Phillip Craft, a plastic surgeon with the Miami Institute for Age Management and Intervention, who said he believes the woman’s problems stem from an over-sized implant:
“That implant appears to be among the largest available for implantation. It’s just huge,” he said. “It’s way too big for her body.”
A too-large implant can likely lead to the stretching of the pocket, the protective layer of tissue that surrounds it. A stretched pocket can allow the implant to float around “like ice cubes in a cup,” said Craft.
“Most implants we use contain around 320 (cubic centimeters of silicone gel),” he said. “That woman appears to have 700 or 800 cc implants. That’s the size of a dinner plate.”
Craft says that the doctor should never have agreed to use such large implants on the woman.
“You have to think about proportions,” he said. “That is an gigantic implant, just way too big for her body.”
Craft added that, while the woman says in the video that she wants to remove the implants, he recommends that she replace them with smaller one. His other piece of advice anyone wanting to get butt implants is to find a doctor who does the procedure often and has a good reputation.
According to the Plastic Surgery Portal, butt implant procedures cost around $6,000 and take one or two hours to complete. Patients typically cannot sit or their backs or apply pressure on their butts for two weeks or more because of pain and swelling.

WHAT EVERY NIGERIAN SHOULD KNOW ABOUT DIABETES AND HOW TO HANDLE IT

Diabetes, often referred to by doctors as diabetes mellitus, describes a group of metabolic diseases in which the individual has high blood sugar (blood glucose), either because insulin production is poor, or because the body's cells do not respond appropriately to insulin, or both.
Patients with high blood sugar will typically experience frequent urination (polyuria), become increasingly thirsty (polydipsia) and hungry (polyphagia).

There are three types of diabetes, but we are going to be looking at the most common n relevant two.

Type 1 Diabetes: (also known as juvenile diabetes)
In type 1 diabetes, the body no longer produce insulin because the body's own immune system has attacked and destroyed the (beta) cells where insulin is made (pancreas gland). The cause of this isn't entirely clear but it may include genetic risk factors and environmental factors. One theory is that type 1 diabetes may occur after having a specific virus. Usually, these people develop type 1 diabetes before their 40th birthday, often in early adulthood or teenage years.
Thankfully, Type 1 diabetes is nowhere near as common as type 2 diabetes. Approximately 10% of all diabetes cases are type 1.
Known Medical Treatment; People with type 1 diabetes must take insulin injections every day to live for the rest of their life. According to Western medicine, there is no known way to prevent or cure type 1 diabetes, except that it can be controlled by keeping blood glucose (sugar) levels within a normal range by carrying out regular blood tests and following a special diet.

Type 2 Diabetes:
Type 2 diabetes is the most common form of diabetes, approximately 90% of all cases of diabetes worldwide are of this type.
In type 2 diabetes, the body either doesn't make enough insulin or can't use its own insulin as well as it should. The risk of having type 2 diabetes increases as a person gets older.
The body does not produce enough insulin for proper function, or the cells in the body do not react to insulin (insulin resistance).

Known Medical Treatment; There is no known way to cure type 2 diabetes, but it can be controlled by keeping the level of glucose (sugar) in the blood within a normal range. However, some people may be able to control their type 2 diabetes symptoms by losing weight, following a healthy diet, doing plenty of exercise, and monitoring their blood glucose levels. However, type 2 diabetes is typically a progressive disease - it gradually gets worse - and the patient will probably end up have to take insulin, usually in tablet form.
Causes of Diabetes
Obesity- Overweight and obese people have a much higher risk of developing type 2 diabetes compared to those with a healthy body weight. People with a lot of visceral fat, also known as central obesity, belly fat, or abdominal obesity, are especially at risk. Being overweight/obese causes the body to release chemicals that can destabilize the body's cardiovascular and metabolic systems.

Aging- The risk of developing type-2 diabetes is also greater as humans get older. Experts are not completely sure why, but say that as we age we tend to put on weight and become less physically active.
Low testosterone- Men whose testosterone levels are low have been found to have a higher risk of developing type 2 diabetes. Researchers from the University of Edinburgh, Scotland, say that low testosterone levels are linked to insulin resistance.
Race- Some racial and ethnic groups are at higher risk for type 2 diabetes, including, Africans, South Asians and American Indians, African Americans, Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders and people of Hispanic/Latino descent also have a higher risk of developing the disease.

Other common causes include, Geneticsunhealthy lifestyle, Stress and Inactivity (lack of exercise)

MUST READ: 10 COMMON HABITS THAT DAMAGE THE KIDNEYS

Kidney disease is one of the costliest illnesses in the world and managing kidney disease is very expensive.

Each year, lots of people die of kidney disease all over the world, and the number of people suffering from chronic renal failure, and need dialysis or kidney transplantation to stay alive keep increasing.

Statistics have it that, worldwide, more than millions patients are waiting for kidney transplants, but only a few thousands will receive transplants because of shortage of suitable organ donors.

Patients usually felt surprised when they are diagnosed of Kidney Failure.

Experts have found the explanation from your daily life habits.

Here are the top habits which lead to your kidney failure:

1. Not emptying your bladder early: Maintaining a full bladder for a long time is a quick way of causing bladder damage. That the urine stays in the bladder for a long time can cause the bacteria breeding in urine to multiply quickly. Once the urine refluxes back to ureter and kidneys, the bacteria can result in kidney infections, then urinary tract infection, and then nephritis, even Uremia.
So, no matter how busy you are, remember to drink a lot of water and urinate regularly. Once you form the habit of holding back urine, it will ultimately damage your kidneys.

2. Not drinking enough water: The main functions of the kidneys are to regulate erythrocyte balances and eliminate metabolic wastes in urine. If we do not drink enough water, the blood will be concentrated and the blood flow to the kidney will not be adequate, thus the function of eliminating toxins in from blood will be impaired.

3. Taking too much salt: 95% sodium we consume through food is metabolized by the kidneys. Exceeding the salt intake will make the kidneys work harder to excrete the excess salt and can lead to decreased kidney function. This excess sodium will cause water retention, causing edema. Edema usually elevates blood pressure and increases the risk of developing kidney disease. The daily salt intake should be controlled within 6g per day.

4. Not treating common infections quickly and properly: Common infections, such as pharyngitis, tonsillitis, common cold etc, usually triggers or aggravates kidney damage. They do this by causing an acute attack of acute glomerulonephritis or chronic nephritis. So, you will see that people who get kidney disease for the first time or whose illness condition becomes worse usually present in hospitals with a history of cold or sore throat.
If after having cold, symptoms like blood in urine, swelling, headache, nausea, vomiting, fatigue, poor appetite appear, you should consult your doctor immediately, to assess your kidney functions, and start treatment if compromised.

5. Eating too much meat: Eating too much meat and protein can increase the metabolic load of the kidney. For those suffering from proteinuria, meat consumption too may aggravate protein leakage, worsening renal pathological lesion.
It is suggested that protein intake should be 0.8g/kg per day. This means that a person with 50 kg should consume 40g of protein per day. Meat consumption per day should be limited within 300g.

6. Not eating enough: This is equally as dangerous as eating too much, both of them will lead damages to your digestive organs where is full of mucosal tissues. Mucosal tissues relates closely to your immune system. This is why many kidney failure patients are diagnosed with “autoimmune kidney damages”.

7. Painkiller abuse: The use of analgesics for a prolonged duration may reduce the flow blood and greatly affect kidney function. In addition, patients with analgesic-induced renal failure are more likely to suffer from bladder cancer.
Use analgesics only when it's absolutely necessary, learn to rest instead of taking to the bottles. If you have been on pain killers for a long term, it's about time you had a test to access you renal function done.

8. Missing your drugs: Hypertension and diabetes have been shown to precipitate or accelerate kidney damage, so if you are diagnosed as having any of these disease don't live your life in denial, USE YOUR DRUGS.
This will ultimately help control your condition while also helping to preserve your kidneys.

9. Drinking too much alcohol: Drinking alcohol without limitation may cause the deposition of uric acid in renal tubules, causing tubular obstruction and increasing risks of kidney failure.

10. Not resting enough: In our society, hypertension as a severe threat to life is largely due to stress. A common symptom of stress is insomnia. Blood pressure may increase by an average of 2-5mg/Hg because of insomnia. Chronically elevated blood pressure can cause damage to kidney capillaries giving rise to kidney problems. Thus, we need to develop a good attitude to life and strike a good balance between work and rest to protect your kidneys and live a healthy life.

At the early stage of kidney diseases, there are usually no the special symptoms, so lots of patients are not diagnosed until the acute attack appears or the illness condition develops into the late stage. So you should endeavor to do kidney function test from time to time to assess how healthy your kidneys are.

Never ignore the soreness of waist, swelling of the feet, changes in urine color or volume, increase in night urination, palor, high blood pressure and other such symptoms. Once found, you should go and see your doctor immediately.

"BE WARNED, TOO MUCH CONSUMPTION OF MEAT SHORTENS LIFE" PHYSICIAN WARNS

Red meatThe Medical Director, Medical Art Centre, Lagos, Prof. Oladapo Ashiru, has warned that excess consumption of meat could reduce life expectancy.

Ashiru, who spoke at the Vanguard Allure Wellness Seminar in Lagos on Friday, said though meat is a rich source of protein, too much of it in a diet pose long term cardiovascular risks.

He noted that excess consumption of meat was associated with declining kidney function and gout as well as increased risks of heart disease and cancer.

According to him, patients treating the aforementioned diseases must reduce their intake of meat.

Ashiru said, “Eating too much meat, fish and other key sources of protein is bad, it takes longer to digest, when you eat a lot of protein and meat, it takes significantly longer for your body to pass through and digest into your body.

“This is because meat takes longer to be broken down, that means the enzymes in your stomach and intestines will have to work much harder. In fact, it takes approximately three to four times longer for your body to break down meat compared to fruit or vegetables,” he added.

He identified poor diet and incompatible lifestyles as factors responsible for increasing disease burden in Nigeria.

“Most Nigerians have very bad eating habits, they do not chew food before swallowing and this does not help digestion. The best time to eat dinner is before 8:00pm and fruit or raw vegetables like salad should be taken before 4:00pm to aid digestion but what we see in Nigeria is complete opposite of these. And if we want to live well, we most eat well too.”

Also, a cardiologist, Dr. Okoli Emmanuel, said that over 80 per cent of cardiovascular deaths took place in low and middle-income nations such as Nigeria due to ignorance and poor eating habits.

According to Okoli, CVDs are diseases that involve the heart or blood vessels such as arteries, capillaries and veins. The term also refers to any disease that affects the cardiovascular system, especially cardiac disease, vascular diseases of the brain, kidney and peripheral arterial disease.

Okoli said, “Fortunately, Nigeria has abundant fruits and vegetables that are required to keep CVDs at bay. We should eat more of our local foods, as they do not predispose people to heart diseases, when compared with the over-processed foreign ones that some Nigerians now patronise in fast foods’ outlets,” he added.

MODEL 101: HOW TO START YOUR MODELING CAREER

Credit

If people have always told you that you should be a model, and you've been looking at models in magazines and on billboards, with a voice in your head saying, “That should be me”, you may be wondering… what’s next? Where do you start and how do you get your foot inside the door of the modeling world? Here, I’ll lay out a few basic steps that every aspiring model should follow.

1. Choose A market

In modeling, there are various different markets, and choosing the one that you are most suitable for will have a major effect on your success. The main markets are for catwalk, plus-size, commercial, and swimsuit/lingerie models.

Catwalk models are generally at least 5’8″ and, as we all know, quite thin with very few curves. Plus size models also tend to be about this same height but most wear over a size 10. Commercial models, on the other hand, can be a little shorter and their body types can be more diverse – imagine the type of models you see in catalogs and television commercials here. Lastly, swimsuit/lingerie models, often referred to as glamour models, often have larger chests with smaller waists.
